twilight frost gets ignored
in a doorway, in a basque
in December
working in Soho
the street’s damp blooms
in the twilight frost

This poem was written in response to Carpe Diem Special #124, Richard Wright’s last haiku of this month, another great prompt hosted by Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. All of the poems in the link-up can be read here. Admittedly, the prompt took me a long way from Richard Wright’s haiku this time, but ah well… here are The Pogues.
