I Don’t See

I don’t see the tree

but the texture of birdsong

is its shape

This poem was written for Carpe Diem Ghost Writer #35, The Cold within the Sound, another great prompt hosted by Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. For this post, Jen of Blog It or Lose It gave us a great poem by Otagaki Rengetsu as a prompt. Now, ideally, the aim is to write in the same tone as the original, which I haven’t managed at all. However, the idea in Rengetsu’s poem did remind me of an impression I had a few weeks ago, so I wrote about that. All of the poems in the link-up can be read here.
