My début urban fantasy novel is called Feline Alchemy and can be purchased as an e-book on Smashwords, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Apple, Kobo, Oyster, Scribd, PageFoundry, Flipkart and Baker & Taylor.
Here is an interview I posted on Smashwords, by way of background information –
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I was offered a contract for Feline Alchemy by a couple of publishers but in each case there were clauses that I wasn’t comfortable with, so I decided to publish the book myself.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The hallucinatory aspect.
What is your writing process?
Partly meticulous, partly accidental..
Describe your desk
Seriously? Who thought up that question? Someone with a carpentry fetish?? Sheesh…
When you’re not writing, how do you spend your time?
My time is usually spent enjoying a free-wheeling, glamorous, affluent-and-photogenic-friend-filled, sunny, reckless-yet-sanitised, pleasantly-hectic-but-in-control, aspirational kind of lifestyle – like in an advert for the latest Apple gadget, or in an advert for a new model of car, or in an advert for vodka, etc, etc, etc.
Who are your favorite authors?
William Blake, Frank Miller, Angela Carter, Philip K Dick, J G Ballard, H P Lovecraft, Joe Orton, R L Stevenson.
How do you approach cover design?
The cover is the gateway to the soul of a book (ahem), so I need to work with a designer whose ability I trust. The artwork for Feline Alchemy was produced with a local artist and writer whose work I’ve long admired, K A McFadden.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Erm… what success?
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Well, “inspires” is a bit strong… Sleep is my favourite mode, as a rule.
What do your fans mean to you?
I have no fans and I don’t plan on having any fans. I do plan on having people enjoy what I’ve written. But then plans can fall through, as so often they do.
What are you working on next?
A dystopian SF series of near-future shockers – it’s a heady mix of Philip K Dick, Shakespeare and the Marquis de Sade, with a smattering of jokes.
