in the spring mist
all the birdsong on high
it marries the rain
###
This poem was written in response to March 7, 2018: Rainy Forest, which is the first(?) great prompt at Seeds and Sand. The prompt and poems can be read here. And, to finish, here’s Howling Wolf –
First of all …. love the Howlin’ Wolf! 🙂
The image is perfectly spring-y. I like how you’ve included “it” — “it marries the rain” — one little word and you’ve got your kireji. Very nicely done 🙂
Well, I thought I’d best be a bit ‘technical’ for the first haiku at a new prompt – so, a kireji and a 1st-3rd switch it was 😉
And what a great HW performance!
Such a wonderful haiku – can just see those birds puffing their chests and singing to the rain.
And now they’re singing to the blazing sun – in England – in April – the birds seem as surprised as the rest of us!
