Starflowers Bloom


starflowers bloom

they say from one to another

the word wow


come and see

the pretty woman who nibbles a grape

is a snail


in my garden

the autumn wind tenderly

from thorn to thorn


This poem was written in response to Carpe Diem Weekend-Meditation #2 Troiku “a hundred gourds”, another great prompt from Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. For this prompt we were asked to write a ‘troiku’ of haiku, using the three lines from a haiku written by Chiyo-Ni when she was six years old –

in my garden
starflowers bloom
come and see
