on a new soft shoe
that will crush us in the morning
cockroach
###
This poem was written in response to Carpe Diem #1221 Cockroach (Gokiburi), another great prompt from Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. All of the poems in the link-up can be read here. And, to finish, here’s Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris –
Perfect pairing … what more can I say? I like this.
On BBC there was a programme about Dolly Parton, Emmylou and Linda Ronstadt and they showed this clip, which I’ve seen before and which made me think:
a) I want to post it on the blog
b) ‘New soft shoe’ – what a pleasing phrase…
After all, Basho referenced popular songs of the day, didn’t he? (Not that Gram was ever popular).
Glad you liked the pairing 🙂
He certainly did! And celebrities too.
Loved it!
glad your haiku muscles are flexing again … mine are a bit stubborn and achy 😉
Flex, Jen, flex! CDHK isn’t the same without those special Paloma moments 🙂
Trying my bestest 🙂 Hey, I had two tonight and 4 the other day. Woo hoo!
Yuk, that shoe needs to get its own back.
Shoes aren’t as squeamish as people, they dig cockroaches 😉
🙂
