This poem was written in response to Carpe Diem Theme Week (6) 5 “Ask Jane …”, another great prompt from Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. The post at CDHK featured another fascinating essay by Jane Reichhold.  All of the poems in the link-up can be read here.

    Perhaps the squirrels had been eating too much fermented fruit … that seems to be a problem in these atrocious August days, lol!

    • Maybe that was the problem – they’re normally such chilled guys, a nibble here, a nibble there, a hop and a skip..

      Luckily, because I stopped to ask them what the commotion was all about, puzzling them a bit, it gave the smaller fella a chance to escape 😉
