somewhere, an owl

This poem was written in response to Carpe Diem #894 First Light, another great prompt from Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. All of the poems in the link-up can be read here. The inspiration for this haiku came from reading Paloma’s poem and remembering the only time I’ve ever heard an owl hooting nearby.
And, to finish, here’s David Bowie –
Beautifully captured, Blake — absolutely beautiful! I’m so very glad you wrote this haiku! And with David Bowie — haunting.
Wow —
Thanks, Jen. And thanks for the nudge that made me revisit that moment from years ago, with haiku eyes 🙂
Yes, the post needed a Bowie song. Not only has he appeared on the blog a few times already but he was a key influence on so many other bands I’ve posted. So, paying respects.
Always happy to provide a gentle nudge 😉
Great verses… I am wondering if we are talking about Minerva´s owl… wink… love and best wishes. Aquileana ☀️‼️ ~
Thanks, dear Aquileana – and I think you could be right. Minerva does seem a likely suspect 🙂
Apologies for the late reply. The fact is that I’m not really keeping up the blog at the moment since I’m working on another project. But I’ll definitely look to pay you another visit soon so as to keep refreshing my understanding of the Greek myths. All the best to you.
