In the Wintry Sun


in the wintry sun

a single violet pours

its cool flavour


This poem was written in response to Carpe Diem #881 following Basho into the deep north: Mount Atsumi; a hot day’s sun; Kisagata silk tree, another great prompt from Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. All of the poems in the link-up can be read here.

    • Thanks, Jen. It’s been so mild here so far that some trees are still blossoming and I saw this little flower sheltering in a hedge – technically, it might not have been a violet; it was a violet coloured flower of another type I don’t know… but hey, that doesn’t scan in a haiku 😉
