across grim
October lakes only raindrops
cast the sun in bits

This poem was written in response to Carpe Diem Special #173 Tom D’Evelyn’s essay BASHO AND THE SMACK OF REALITY: A PERSONAL ESSAY ON HAIKU, another great prompt from Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. All of the poems in the link-up can be read here. And, to finish, here’s the Beta Band –
Very nicely done — I struggled with this one —
Bravo 🙂
Struggled? When you say you “struggled” it usually means that you managed a couple of haiku, a tanka, a haiga, but… didn’t quite finish the haibun! 😉
Thanks, Jen. I’ll pop over to see your struggles later this evening 🙂
Oh dear … these days “struggled” usually means one “iffy” haiku, lol ….! But the vote of confidence is great!!!! 🙂
Iffy haiku? Pfft that’s news to me – you must be posting those on yet another blog I don’t know about 🙂
And here’s something I came across on another blog, which I thought you’d enjoy – http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2015/09/stand-herd-van-gogh-field/
WOW! this is incredible!!!
What a labor of love in creating it 🙂
And oh yes … lots of haiku struggling … lol 😉
Wonderful verses, dear Sue… Sending love and best wishes. Aquileana 🐉☀️
Thanks, dear Aquleana! And I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend – maybe putting together another mythic post? I wonder who follows Pegasus… 🙂
Indeed… new post coming this week… It is related to Perseus… I think you´ll like it.. Happy week ahead to you. Aquileana ★⭐
Awesome Blake
Thanks, Chèvrefeuille. Another great prompt 🙂
Cast the sun in bits…wow!! so sad too.
It was strange to see how the raindrops hitting the dark lake caused little flashes of light to erupt. Pretty, too. Glad you liked the image.
I truly did…of course I love water too:)
