This poem was written in response to Carpe Diem #827 Phoenix, another great prompt from Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. All of the poems in the link-up can be read here. When I tried thinking about the Phoenix it brought to mind this scene from Lawrence of Arabia –
So, this post is practically a ‘found poem’; and as a haiku… well, it’s all over the place 🙂

Very non-haiku, really – in a rule-breaking mood here, obviously. As the ‘rules’ become more like second nature breaking them gets trickier, I realised lately. Hmm..
It gets easy to become boxed-in by the rules — I”m glad you found a way to thumb your nose at them in the end 🙂
