the deep green gaze
deepens while a still white gull
teardrops the lake

This poem was written in response to Carpe Diem #806 Lake Victoria, another great prompt from Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. All of the poems in the link-up can be read here. And, to finish, here’s Phoebe Jevtovic Rosquist & David Tayler, performing Philip K. Dick’s favourite song (now that’s one hell of an axe!) –
“Teardrops the lake” — beautiful! The image, the wording — I read this one over and over again. 🙂
And – this was Philip K. Dick’s favorite song? Has to be a story behind that… hmmm. Gorgeous. 🙂
Well, PKD was a classical music fan and couldn’t bear that new-fangled rock’n’roll when it arrived! Though he made an exception for Elvis, mainly because they’d both lost a twin in early infancy.
And thanks, Jen. This was a bit tricky – I had the image but ended up with 3 faulty versions of the haiku and then tried to blend them… 😉
Ah …. I’ve been there … trying to mesh several versions! But it doesn’t show … this is beautiful and seamless. 🙂
