by blue moonlight
this wedding dress still holds
brittle bits of stars

This poem was written in response to Carpe Diem #786 buruu muun (blue moon), another great prompt from Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. All of the poems in the link-up can be read here. And, to finish, here’s Mark Lanegan with a song I’d never heard before –
Bittersweet, this haiku. And as always it is beautifully crafted. Brittle stars works perfectly, Blake 🙂
I was reading a chat of yours with Georgia a few days ago about a blog for short forms of poetry, which bans haiku because it’s soooo easy – meanwhile the blogger’s own examples of haiku were… disappointing. It usually takes a certain amount of craft to appreciate craft, don’t you find?
Thanks, as ever 🙂
It sure does, Blake ….. I remember this chat too. Yikes. People have no idea about haiku … none at all.
😛
Very welcome 🙂
LOVE this… Especially in conjunction with the music. Pragmatic and bittersweet. Nostalgia with a dash of pragmatic romance.
Put on that long white dress, indeed. Mrawr! 🙂
“Pragmatic romance” – exactly; not pretending anything’s perfect, but still seeing that beauty. I’m glad that came across. Thanks.
Powerful poetic imaginary… I really like this one, Sue…
All my best wishes. Aquileana ⭐
