This poem was written in response to Carpe Diem #753 arts, another great prompt hosted by Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. All of the poems in the link-up can be read here. For this prompt we were asked to take inspiration from a work of art. So, as I walked home from Morrison’s yesterday, into a sudden shower, this song was playing in my headphones and the mix of English rain and Minneapolis soul was lovely –

    Rather than give my interpretation I’m going to read this several times !! I’m really enjoying the new tone, new feel, as of late. Very well done!

    • I suppose there has been a tone running through the recent haiku. Hmm it wasn’t a conscious decision; still feeling my way… And it’s probably just a phase – ah you’ll have an intense dislike for the tone that replaces it 😉

      • Oh, I’m not complaining – it is lovely, sensual, elegant. Conscious or not! 😉
        But – I look forward to whatever tone. 🙂

  2. I just have to read and re-read this one Blake …. your style of composing haiku is so different than the most I have read. I think you start to create your own style of haiku-ing ….
