in deep deep blue
alone, a bright moon hangs on
the dawn chorus
###
This poem was written in response to Carpe Diem #751 alone, another great prompt hosted by Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. All of the poems in the link-up can be read here. And, to finish, here’s Donna Summer –
You’ve captured the dawn chorus very well. Again — I like the way the second line is broken up. And Donna Summer’s voice is quite bird-like here too 🙂
And all those birds call-and-responsing has a kind of pulsing sound to it, which just reminded me of this. Plus I’m pretty sure birds dig disco 🙂
Yes, I managed to adapt my ‘dawn’ misfire cunningly here, so at least that isn’t nagging at me anymore!
😀
I love the way you have hung the moon right before dawn breaks – fantastic
Thanks, moondustwriter. I was only reporting what I saw – in one side of the sky the full moon was bright in the dark blue, while on the other horizon it was turning yellow already – as the birds all sang away.
I’ve no idea if that’s usual at this time of the year since I normally prefer to avoid early mornings 🙂
this is a great haiku Blake …. I like the way how you have ‘hung’ the moon in front of the dawn.
Thanks, Chèvrefeuille. I’m glad you enjoyed it. As I said to moondustwriter, this is actually the scene I saw: in one side of the sky the full moon was bright in the dark blue, while on the other horizon it was turning yellow already – as the birds all sang away 🙂
my favourite time of day … and with a moon too! Great haiku Blake.
Really? This was my first deliberate, active experience of this time of day in decades! It was lovely, but… 😉
I’m a really early riser (usually) and to me it’s the most peaceful time of the day too … so I love it, but I do understand that sleeping in can be nice too 🙂
Sleep may well be my all-time favourite thing – in a past life I was a sloth, without a doubt 😉
lol … i remember some fun documentaries about sloths … what a vision you evoke here 😀
