under willows
one shadow levitates
in the blue a crow

This poem was written in response to Carpe Diem #724 a wandering crow, another great prompt hosted by Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. All of the poems in the link-up can be read here. And, to finish, here’s Tricky –
Very interesting! That moment of surprise! And “in the blue a crow” seems like it could be a haiku unto itself.
Hadn’t heard “Tricky” before but I’m diggin’ it 😉
I suppose the trip hop musical movement didn’t make much of an impact in the US? But, yes, Tricky’s first album is great – dig away 🙂
Exactly, I’m walking towards shadows and then one shadow flaps away – boy, I don’t even know what’s staring me right in the face! 😛
Trip hop probably *did* make it here – but alas! – I seem to have missed it 😛
Very mysterious, these shadows … Hmmm….!
Well, there are a couple of other classic trip hop songs I’ve been angling for a chance to use, but so far the opportunity hasn’t arrived… 🙂
Fun when it finally happens!
WOW what a wonderful description of a crow taking off to the sky … awesome … thank you for sharing Blake.
Thanks, Chèvrefeuille. It’s always strange to see a part of a deep shadow break loose and fly away – for a moment, you feel as if you might have stepped into a horror film… And thanks for sharing all of the Basho haiku this month – they have each made for a fascinating read 🙂
Thank you Blake. It’s my pleasure to bring all those wonderful haiku by Basho. I see him as my haiku master so it’s a tribute to him …
