This poem was written in response to Carpe Diem #720, “if taken in my hand”, another great prompt hosted by Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. All of the poems in the link-up can be read here. And, to finish, here’s The Tindersticks –
Such a tremendous sense of longing and insurmountable distance. Blake, this is so good – the ache is powerful. [Perhaps it’s ‘bad form’ to tip one’s Stetson two haiku in a row – but – consider it done.] 🙂
And with the song? Ay!
Woo two tips of the Stetson?? That’s some might purty complimenting you got going on there! Thanks, Jen 🙂
Yep when I do longing I tend to do it insurmountably. This whole album provides a perfect soundtrack, really..
Vurry welcome, Sir! [I don’t tip my Stetson to just anyone – especially twice!] 😉
Was listening to more Tindersticks after reading this post — oh yes. Perfect for longing [wow].
Yes, Tindersticks songs are full of a kind of baroque longing, aren’t they? Perfect for those times when you’re missing someone 🙂
