from the lighthouse
jagged beams search the black shapes –
a blind cat’s wail
###
This poem was written in response to Heeding Haiku With HA: Noise, another great prompt hosted by HA at Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie. All of the poems in the link-up can be read here. And, to finish, here’s Blind Willie McTell –
Now this is an incredibly potent image – it could be a magnificent Film Noir opening scene! (The poor blind kittie!)
And the tune — what a hoot! “I got two women and you can’t tell them apart” // “Now I’m gonna punch you in the nose!” LOL!!!!
Oo you’re right. I hadn’t thought of a film noir scene… The lighthouse. The cat wails. A body falls from the rocks into the sea… :O
I almost added Bob Dylan’s song ‘Blind Willie McTell’, which is amazing, but I haven’t had blues on here for a while. Plus it’s a hoot 😉
And after the body falls, you need a “da da DAAAAAH” sound! Very glad you chose BWM here — it was perfect 🙂
Powerful poetic imaginary!!!! All my best wishes to you, dear Sue. Aquileana 😀
I’m pleased you like the imagery – a lighthouse is always quite evocative, so I was glad I was able to use it here. Thanks Aquileana, and have a lovely weekend 😉
Ah! That is quite an image. Haunting and thrilling. Loved it. 🙂

Thanks, HA. A blind cat miaowing when she feels a bit lost does have a haunting quality to it, so I’m glad that came across 🙂
