again thorns
catch her nightdress, hidden
by young leaves

This poem was written in response to Carpe Diem Time Glass #28, another great prompt hosted by Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. All of the poems in the link-up can be read here. And, to finish, here’s Johnny Cash –
Oof! Sometimes your haiku leave me quite speechless – and this is one of them. (Meant as a compliment, of course!)
And I’ll happily accept the compliment, of course! Even if it might seem to imply that speechlessness on your part was a good thing… which can’t be right?!! :O
There are lots of haiku that I really like where a character is portrayed in a setting, but what’s happening with that character is left open to all sorts of disparate interpretations. So, I wanted to try to have one of those in my own little repertoire 🙂
Thanks, Jen – for your speechlessness!
(see what I mean?) 😀
Speechless was good 🙂 – i was affected by the haiku so much that i couldn’t quite find the words to express the emotion 🙂
This was brilliant – really beautifully crafted. 🙂
Great haiku… Plus, I love the song!!! ⭐
Best to you Aquileana 😀
Thanks, dear Aquileana. Yes, definitely one of Johnny Cash’s best late songs, I think – I was very pleased when I realised this song fitted in with the haiku 😉
