Another story of mine has been posted at bookscover2cover. This one is called The Unspeakable and can be read by clicking on the link. This story was inspired by a couple of famous quotes by the story’s protagonists –
‘The unspeakable in full pursuit of the uneatable’ – Oscar Wilde
‘The love that dare not speak its name’ – Lord Alfred Douglas (Bosie)
A little wordplay links the two quotes, while the reality/metaphor of fox hunting colours the whole scene. So here, to provide a suitable finish, is Julian Cope –
This was a great piece of writing. Packs quite a punch in so few words. 🙂
Thanks, Jen. Sometimes those tight word limits prove quite useful (as you know) by not letting you spell everything out. It did mean that here I simply assumed everyone would recognise the name ‘Bosie’, which naturally wasn’t the case – but hey everyone can google 🙂
Well, even if you *didn’t* know who Bosie was, it still had meaning and you could still appreciate the piece. Finding out Bosie’s identity is an extra treat. 🙂
It’s good to let the reader figure things out on their own from time to time, right? Not to sign-post everything in enormous type, again and again, a la Hollywood 😉
Exactly 😉
