This poem was written in response to Carpe Diem #674, Channel, another great prompt hosted by Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai, which gave Sapozhnikova Svetlana’s painting “Expectation” as our inspiration. All of the poems in the link-up can be read here. And, to finish, here’s The Band –
Oh — I like the image/ idea of watery hours. Nice! Hadn’t heard this “Band” song either. The combination makes me think of dozing in the grass, watching the sky. Laid back. 🙂
Thanks, Jen. The image happened purely because of the Venice element in the prompt, but then there seemed to be other possible interpretations, so it stayed 😉
Great, funky horns on this song, hey? Very sunshiney!
Very funky!!!! 🙂 And very different from “The Weight”!
Speaking of funky, did I tell you that I LOVE Doctor John? That box set is incredible. He leaves you wanting *more* — albums are so *short*!
Hey that’s great! It’s always nice to play matchmaker between a music fan and an undiscovered treasure 😉
And you’re right, of course – funky, jazzy New Orleans uniqueness!
Discovering new music is one of the great joys in life!
[She said, hoping that didn’t sound a bit pompous.]
But hey, it really is.
😀
Nope, it’s the opposite of pompous, I think – that wide-eyed hope of always finding something special, and then the thrill when it arrives 😀
Yes! 😀
this is ever so good.
I was wondering if the prompt meant canal rather than channel.
Thanks, GF! Now that you mention it, I think I treated the prompt as applying directly to the canals – because of the picture, I expect. Perhaps the two words are the same in Dutch, so Chev used it interchangeably?
