in a fragile mood
the sands hold her footprints
perfectly, a while

This poem was written in response to Carpe Diem Special #129, Sogi’s 5th haiku, another great prompt hosted by Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. All of the poems in the link-up can be read here. And, to finish, here’s Elliott Smith with “A Fond Farewell” –
… a while…. sweet and tender
Thanks, George. Along with achy, sweet and tender is what I was aiming for.
Wonderfully fragile in that last line — “perfectly, a while” — perfectly accompanied with the song, too. This haiku leaves such an achy feeling behind.
One that arrived without any real reworking. I must have been feeling achy..
And I’m very into this song at the moment. Glad you liked it 🙂
Had to look it up on YouTube — this particular version was “blocked in my country”. Rrrrr!
Pfft YT makes it up as it goes along. I remember clicking a link on BIOLI of a British band, which was viewable in Peeay but not here – I was fuming! “But… these are my people!!” 😛
You may be right!
Remember how ticked off I was about your being able to see tons and tons of Bob Dylan — while he was totally unavailable here? Suddenly, tons of Dylan videos are available here.
At least for a little bit. o.O
Perfect!~ Truly outstanding! Best regards, Aquileana 😀
Well, that’s very kind of you to say! 😀
I haven’t had much time lately, but I’ll be visiting to see what’s been happening in the world of Greek mythology soon 😉
fragile and ephemeral .. but so beautiful …
Thanks, Georgia. I was trying for that sense of tenderness glimpsed in the shifting sands, so I’m pleased it came across.
🙂 yeah for you Blake .. it’s really wonderful to be able to translate into words that special something we’ve had the privileged to sense!
