This poem was written in response to Carpe Diem “Haiku Writing Techniques” #2, Onomatopoeia, another great prompt hosted by Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. All of the poems in the link-up can be read here. And, to finish, here’s David Bowie with Golden Years –
Well now. I had no idea David Bowie had visited Soul Train 🙂
This is a really interesting haiku, with the gold leaves both present and absent at the same time. And a great sense of movement — despite wondering – at the end of it all – what was there and what wasn’t there – what was real and what wasn’t.
Soul Train has all sorts of great performances, as you said – just a pity this was only mimed. Still, a gorgeous song 🙂
I wrote the haiku after you sent me the poems by Akiko. I especially liked the Friend’s hair/Funeral smoke poem – it does wonderful things with the senses, which seemed to fit the prompt, so I thought I’d try for a similar feel. Hence the absence, I suppose.
I was wondering about the hair here — seemed similar — and as such it was a great tribute 🙂 Really, you should consider getting the book. It’s just wonderful — such a totally different voice — refreshing. 🙂
Yep, she’s added to my basket – along with a number of other haiku(-ish) books. Ah still so much to explore and learn from 🙂
It’s all about the journey, right? And if we don’t die till we figure it out … well … we’ll live a good long time! 😀
Me and Methusalah, sat making haiku – I can see it now 😛
LOL!!!
