droplets
no longer flow together
lonely in the frost
lonely in the frost
the crunch of white grass stays
long after

This poem was written in response to Carpe Diem #632, Frost, another great prompt hosted by Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. All of the poems in the link-up can be read here. And, to finish, here’s the prettiest song about loneliness, from Love –
Now this is very, very interesting — the sound of the crunch which seems to pierce the loneliness and hang in the air — but also, there’s a question implied here, isn’t there? “Long after ….. what?” And — the first haiku has a lonely-in-the-middle-of-the-crowd feel to it. Wow.
Here’s hoping your Christmas is a bright one, Blake — full of laughter and joy. 🙂
Ah thanks, Jen – it’s been nice and… Christmassy. And I hope you’re having a lovely day, too, having fun and letting the muses indulge with a “tipple” or two 🙂
Hi there —
I’ve been sick all day — believe it or not. How ridiculous! No tipple today, sadly. But — everyone is otherwise doing well.
Oh what a shame – the day of the year when you really want to be feeling your best 😦
Take it easy, then, and I hope you’ll be feeling better soon and still get a chance to enjoy some of the festive cheer.
Thanks Blake 🙂
Glad to have written the CDHK prompts already; today I’m sprawled on the couch watching Jeeves and Wooster. 🙂
Hopefully you’ll get a chance to watch some Marx Brothers 😉
Well, that’s a nice way to relax 😉 Is it the Fry and Laurie episodes? Perfect comfort watching, if so.
Strangely enough, my brother and I went into a bit of a Marx Brothers routine today –
“But… that’s bigamy!”
“It’s big o’ me, too – let’s be big!”
😀
Yup – Fry and Laurie – loving it, too 😉
“Let’s be big ” — priceless 😉
As of today, the kiddo has every Marx Bros movie. Unique tastes for a 13 year old. I love it 😉
Marx Brothers and Edgar Allan Poe – that’s pretty exceptional taste for any 13 year old, I think. And you can’t go wrong with the classics 🙂
😀
And I’m glad you liked this because, I must say, it’s one that I was fairly pleased with 😉 As you say, elements of concrete detail mixed with hints of…
Plus… it all got written quite quickly! So I’m finally prepared to forgive you for that infamous 7-minute haiku 😛
Now I just need to remember how it happened…….
Yay! I’m finally off the hook!
Merry Christmas, indeed! 😉
Phew!
A gift from the muses…
