This poem was written in response to Carpe Diem #626, Mountain Cabin, another great prompt hosted by Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. All of the poems in the link-up can be read here. And since I seem to be writing a lot about crows lately, here’s a corvid friendly band to finish (good word, “corvid”) –
Oh, wow! We get to read a great haiku — and then rock out afterwards! 😀 Wonderful memories with the Black Crowes — they were huge when I was in high school.
Seriously though, I think this is one of your better haiku. A great haiku moment, a bit of humor in calling him/her a vandal — and a wonderful direction that’s completely different and unexpected. Bravo!
On this album in particular, the Black Crowes really were great – was a pleasure t find this clip 🙂
Really? That’s cool. I wasn’t intending to write for this prompt, having no experience of mountain cabins. But then late last night I looked at the photo of that glorious landscape and thought “I must be able to imagine something in that scene..” Glad to hear that it paid off 🙂
