stray bits of seashell
old armour
in the laughing spray

This poem was written in response to Carpe Diem “Sparkling Stars” #14, another great prompt hosted by Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. All of the poems in the link-up can be read here. Beaches and sun were abolished in England by the Magna Carta, so here’s a California song.
Abolished by the Magna Carta? Dang! Our local school board must have censored that part in our textbooks 😉
But — old armor is a wonderful image. I love it 🙂
I’m guessing you won’t know Tony Hancock but heed the words of wisdom –
“And close the boozers at half past ten” — LOL!
His version of British history sounds much like the versions of American history you used to hear on Jay Leno’s “Jaywalking”. o.O
What a blast!
And on another note — I must watch more Tony Hancock. This looks like fun.
Yes, at it’s best Hancock is one of the great British comic characters. Of course, other parts are dated after 50- 60 years 🙂
Yeah, that happens — parts of M*A*S*H lose their relevance these days too. 😉
