wind falls –
immense stillness of rustled leaves
that stop falling
###
This poem was written for Carpe Diem #611, Sylph, spirit of the wind, another great prompt hosted by Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. All of the poems in the link-up can be read here. And if a haiku ever turned into a pop song then it might sound like this one by The Beach Boys.
Well now. I had no idea that the Beach Boys did “eerie”. But — eerie it is. As is the haiku — almost like “silence of the lambs” — except in the forest. o.O Nicely done!
Oh yes, as Brian Wilson crashed and burned there was some eerie Beach Boys music recorded.
I thought my language had got a bit “lush”, lately, so I just wanted to be plainer here. My mum sent me a message to say that she liked this – said it’s the first haiku she’s understood 🙂
Well now — compliments from Mum are very nice indeed! 😀
Sadly, knowledge of the Beach Boys has been limited to the top 20 list. Perhaps they’re worth a second peek! 😉
Oh you can’t argue with mums, they’re all-wise and all-knowing [lots of nodding of maternal heads ensues] 😀
Definitely worth a peek – there are plenty of great Beach Boys songs that the top 20 wouldn’t touch!
😀
“Silence of the lambs,” though?? Someone’s definitely spending far too much time with BB Bob! :S
Perhaps LOL!
ah .. when the wind falls … the sound of silence! Love this.
Thanks, Georgia – well, I went out looking for breezes to write for the prompt, but the day was totally still, and so… 🙂
lol .. sometimes one has to create ones own inspiration .. 😉
Great approach… I love the “whole” picture here…
Aquileana 😛
I’m glad – I was trying to capture a little “snapshot” 😉 All the best to you, dear Aquileana.
