Flimsy

Flimsy nets

Collectors trap insects

The flight itself stays uncollected

This poem was written for Carpe Diem Ghost Writer #34, Kanshicho-style, another great prompt hosted by Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. All of the poems in the link-up can be read here. And here’s The Jam with a song that’s far better than butterfly collectors deserve.

  1. Oh, now THAT’s a clever way to look at it — a truthful way, really — I’m impressed with the way you always see these elements that I would have utterly, completely, totally missed —

Looked up the lyrics to this song — really adds another layer of meaning to the haiku, that’s for sure —-

    • Oddly enough, this – “I’m impressed with the way you always see these elements that I would have utterly, completely, totally missed” – is precisely what I said to myself on reading your 7 minute river stones haiku, yesterday night 🙂

      • Really? Why thank you 🙂
Sorry for the delay again. WP is being temperamental re: which notifications it wants to share with me. (rrrrr!)

      • Oh WP is playing nice for me, lately 🙂

There really was no delay – plus delays are fine, anyway. I used to keep track of comments quite easily with 2 stories posted a week but, after adding haiku here and there, now I have to keep checking back…

And yes, this is one of my favourite Jam songs 🙂

      • It’s been getting really difficult to keep track of comments — especially when I was doing four posts a day at BIOLI and maybe one or two at the dungeon too ….

      • Well, you are a whirlwind when it comes to blogging! Plus… you needn’t reply to every stray snippet of chit chat that wings its way across the pond from that little blue cat face – this chit chat, for instance: do not reply! 🙂
