Ghosts Offer Kisses

Ghosts offer kisses

In slim glimpses at dusk –

Hearts get nailed up

This poem was written for Carpe Diem #605, Hantu Pisang, another great prompt hosted by Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. All of the poems in the link-up can be read here. And here’s a song about ghostliness from Norman Greenbaum, complete with great gritty guitar, shaky camera work and a scary moustache.

  1. Poor ol’ Norman — his video looks like cult recruitment propaganda, doesn’t it? Great guitar though. 🙂

Was it just me, or did you find the conditions creating a hantu pisang a bit .. um … shaky? As shaky as Norman’s camerawork?

    • Hey it was the early days for videos, that’s all – no CGI nonsense there, no sir! 😛

And what, pray, is shaky about “a beautiful ghost that is supposedly formed when the heart of the banana bud is pierced with a nail attached to a thread”?? Entirely plausible, if you ask me..

      • Oh everyone looked like a cult leader back then – you weren’t taken seriously if you didn’t have your own cult clinging on to your kaftan!

My favourite part is when Norm begins singing and the camera man succeeds in chopping off the top of his head so we get a moustache solo – genius 😀
