Odd seeds of yellow
In high acres of windows –
All these sunset fields

This poem was written for Carpe Diem #599, Yellow coloured Valerian or Ominaeshi, one of the seven sacred autumn flowers, another great prompt hosted by Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. All of the poems in the link-up can be read here.
Oh, beautifully unexpected!
[respectful applause]
Thanks, Jen. “Unexpected” is really my only option with prompts about flowers because my knowledge is practically zero 😦
I think if I’m still haiku-ing come spring I’ll get an app for my phone that identifies plants and trees for me – I mean, there must be one, right 🙂
Hoping you’re still haiku-ing — because you’re brilliant at it. You were so worried about that, too — but really – your work blows me away.
I meant “unexpected” in a good way, of course — the seeds in the windows — really remarkable. 😀
If you find that phone app that IDs plants let me know — sounds like it would be a great tool, that’s for sure …. I resort to making up names with (sometimes) “iffy” results!
Oh, really? And here was I thinking you were some kind of guru of all things horticultural 😛
Nope!
I’m just guru of look-it-up-on-the-Internet. 😉
Oh I certainly hope I’ll still be wrestling with haiku come the spring – I’ve enjoyed process of observing more keenly and I like the form. But you never know for sure; after all, it wasn’t my idea to start writing them in the first place 😛
So, since it was your beautiful haiku that first roused my interest all those months ago, I’m really pleased that you’ve liked my attempts [hearty mutual appreciation society applause ensues!] 😀
Hey, one person applauding is just weird — but two people applauding is reassuring and comforting. So, let us bask in said society for a moment. [bask bask bask] 😀
So, one person applauding is just weird? But one hand applauding is Zen?? [baffled shake of the head] 😛
Uh oh … now you had to get me all baffled too …. o.O
Zenitude — always baffling —
A very beautiful scenery you have painted here with your words Blake
Thanks, Chèvrefeuille – the early autumn sunsets can look lovely in all the grey windows 🙂
