Torn silk trembles
Palaces crash down like dust –
Long delayed spring clean

This poem was written for Carpe Diem “Little Creatures” #9 “spiders”, another great prompt hosted by Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. And, to follow the poem, here’s a delicate song about spiders.
Oh, it makes you feel so sorry for the spider!
Just wonderfully composed — and the song really adds to the post.
BRAVO! 🙂
Yes, me too. I try to keep an eye out for any movement when I’m cleaning up webs and only completely wipe out the vacant dwellings 🙂
Of course, there’s no mention of spiders in the words, so the palaces could conceivably be of the Buckingham variety, in which case my sympathy evaporates along with the webbing.
Oh dear!
An interesting perspective on the Royals. We here in the States have a bit of a fascination with them. I can understand the frustration and annoyance though —
Oh I know – we like Disneyland, you like Buck House. Same difference 🙂
Ugh …. Disney [shudder]
Cobwebs finally taken away 🙂 … nice response on our Little Creatures episode Blake.
Fortunately for the spiders who live with me my schedule for doing housework is pretty web-friendly, most of the time 🙂
Awesome … i like cobwebs, but sometimes they have to clean up
Excellent dear Sue… I love the last verse in particular.
Best wishes to you!, Aquileana 😛
Oh isn’t it annoying when you find you’ve been ever so late replying to a nice comment 😦 Well, I’m glad you liked the verse and best wishes to you, too, Aquileana!
And I see that now you’ve written about Selene, goddess of the moon – I know nothing about her, so that will be intriguing 😉
A great vision here … mother nature’s spring cleaning …
Thanks. Spider webs are such visually fascinating structures that they make for a great prompt – so many possibilities 🙂
I do so agree … funny though, when I was writing my post the nursery rhyme Itty Bitty Spider kept running through my head … you’re very good with haiku Blake … brava!
